Two ways to Wire
......

(whether you're building, extending, renovating, altering or re-wiring):

Typical Hard Solution
Busway System
First of all you must work out where to put the sub-boards, then where to locate the sub-mains. Then check the exact location of everything that needs power so that you can work out the conduit runs and where to route the cables. And that assumes that the final layouts have been decided and if they haven't then you'd better be quick before someone changes their mind. In which case you can tear up your plans and start all over again…
...or you could simply use Vass Electrobar.

SOME ADVANTAGES OF THE VASS S-SERIES ELECTROBAR BUSWAY SYSTEM OVER CONVENTIONAL HARD CABLING…

  • Quicker to install
It takes the same time to install the completed Busway Run as it does to just install cable tray (let alone the rest of the cable pulling supports and termination).

  • Quicker to alter
Changes or alteration are incredibly easy and inexpensive to make. Altering the layout of the Busway does not render the existing components useless. Due to the modular design of this system the existing components are re-used with only additional parts (if the change requires it) needing to be purchased.

  • Cheaper Main Switchboard
Because the Busway is controlled from one main switch at the switchboard, the size and cost of this is greatly reduced as conventional cabling would require multiple circuit protection and cable entry zones.

  • Eliminate Distribution Boards
The Busway System acts as your complete continuous distribution board and hence eliminates the cost and required floor space required for these.

  • Save Installation Cabling
Only 1 supply feeder is required thus eliminating multiple runs for distribution board designs consequently making these boards smaller and cheaper.

  • Easy to Relocate machinery
There is no need to rewire back to the distribution board and go through the inconvenience, time and cost that this involves. The Busway Take off Box is simply un-plugged from the present location and re-inserted to the nearest available Busway Take off point.

The design of the Vass S-Series Take-Off-Boxes is fool proof so that suitable competent staff can perform this task, there is no need to wait for the arrival of an electrician for this simple task.

  • Adding new machinery
Just insert a Take-off-Box into the nearest Busway take off point. Installation is completed within minutes not hours, as is normally the case with more traditional cable installations.

  • Improve Cash Flow
Because the installation can be easily added too, you can spend little at first with only a few lengths of Busway, then as your need arises or more cash flow becomes available then add to your installation.

  • Financial Asset
If ever you move locations the Busway Systems can be removed and re-located to your new premises, unlike cable installations in which money is lost with the installation that is left in place and that needs to be re-spent again once you have moved to a new premises.

If you are a lessor then again the Busway System can be removed and relocated with the same benefits as above.

If a lessee, then the Busway System has the added advantage of being your electrical distribution system that is easily and cheaply capable of being altered to suit all your prospective tenants.

  • Improved Safety
A significant advantage of a Busway system is the improvement in safety systems, which demonstrates an active step taken to improve safety - a necessary requirement of your OH&S policy and procedure.

An overhead Busway System vastly reduces the amount of leads that would be draped across the floor. These potential electrical hazards for forklifts, trolleys and pedestrians can be greatly reduced due the use of Busway Systems.

With the added advantage of having individual earth leakage protection available on required circuits this gives essential yet affordable personal safety and protection. Being able to protect individual circuits eliminates the potential for nuisance tripping and the inconvenience that this causes.

RETAIL APPLICATIONS

There are further advantages that Busway systems exhibit over cables systems, some of these include.

  • Modify Tenants power
If on a change of tenant, or a tenant needs greater power, then all that is required is simply the addition or change of a take of box - a 5 minute job.

  • Reduced disruption
On a change or upgrade of a tenant only that tenant is effected. Having the take of box located in the ceiling space of the tenant then modifications made to the tenancy do not effect other tenants, the retail centre or other shoppers. There is no need to chase and replace/add cables, lift roofing tiles create damage and mess etc..

If an unmetered busway system is needed or a very large current capacity take off box is required to be inserted or removed then a brief interruption to the busway power supply may be required.

  • Parts not wasted
Replaced take off boxes are able to be used for other tenancies when required and if the Busway run needs to be altered then the parts can be re-routed to suit the new layout.

  • Reduced Cost
With the reduced changeover time for power and the much less disruption to other tenants, shoppers and staff, this system saves time and money throughout the life of the project.

  • Analyse Consumption
Our take off boxes can be supplied complete with current transformers with kWh meters (see photographs on lower right). This allows the centre management to keep a track of tenants power usage and monitor future power requirements of tenants. With the data capture facilities of some CT/kWh units all this information can be collected to a central monitoring point freeing up valuable time of centre management.

With this capability all the centre's common areas can be collected and performance indictors created to monitor centre power efficiency.

DATA CENTRE APPLICATIONS

Apart from the number of advantages that Busway Systems pose over traditional cable system listed above, there a number that particularly apply to Data Centre applications. Some of these include:

  • Increase System Reliability Factors
Using type tested, robust fully metal enclosed Electrobar Busway Systems increases the reliability of Data Centre system safety factors during installation, operation and modifications to circuits.

  • IP54 Systems
IP54 systems are available to give additional security for data applications or in areas where water can be found.

  • Take Off Box Protection
Individual Take Off Boxes can be protected at the point of connection to the Busway rather than or in addition to floor box protection giving greater system security and protection.

  • Ease and Safety of Maintenance
Removing or adding new circuits is as simple as pulling out the box moving it or simply plugging in a new one. The ease of chasing circuits and finding the correct supply using Electrobar Busway systems is far far easier than trying to chase cables in kilometres of spaghetti like cabling. The time saving will be an advantage of the entire life of the centre.
